This Terms of Use Agreement sets forth the standards of use of the ("Service"). By using the www.handmaiden.org website, you ("you" or "Visitor") agree to these terms and conditions. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions of this agreement, you should immediately cease all usage of this website.
Description of Service
This website is providing Visitor with information about inspirational issues to christian women and as such all provisions in this TOU apply. Visitor must provide (1) all equipment necessary for their own Internet connection, including computer and modem and (2) provide for Visitor's access to the Internet, and (3) pay any fees related with such connection.
Changes to the Terms of Use
We reserve the right, at any time, to modify, alter, or update the terms and conditions of this agreement without prior notice. Modifications shall become effective immediately upon being posted at www.handmaiden.org/about/terms-of-use.html. Your continued use of the Service after amendments are posted constitutes an acknowledgement and acceptance of the Agreement and its modifications.
We further reserve the right, at any time, to modify, change, update, or otherwise alter the Website without prior notification, including discontinuing or eliminating Website content or features. Your continued use of the Website signifies acceptance of these alterations.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Website are provided by The Handmaiden on an "as is" and on an "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Handmaiden makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the use or the results of the Website in terms of their correctness, accuracy, reliability, or otherwise. The Handmaiden shall have no liability for any interruptions in the use of the Website. The Handmaiden disclaims all warranties with regard to the information provided, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties; therefore the above-referenced exclusion is inapplicable.
Limitation of Liability
HANDMAIDEN, THEIR FOUNDER MARY PUPLAVA, ITS CONTENT PROVIDERS, EDITORS AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT be liable for any damages whatsoever, and in particular the organization shall not be liable for any special, indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, or damages for lost profits, loss of revenue, or loss of use, PAIN AND SUFFERING, OR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS arising out of or related to the website or the information contained in it, whether such damages arise in contract, negligence, tort, under statute, in equity, at law, or otherwise, even if the Organization has been advised of the possibility of such damages. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW FOR THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, THEREFORE SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS ARE INAPPLICABLE.
THE ORGANIZATION IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT PROVIDED BY EDITORS, PROFILE GUESTS, AFFILIATES, OR OTHER CONTENT PROVIDERS, TO THE HANDMAIDEN. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EDITORS, PROFILE GUESTS, AFFILIATES, AND OTHER CONTENT PROVIDERS TO ADHERE TO COPYRIGHT AND TRADEMARK LAWS REGARDING SUBMISSIONS TO AND CONTENT ON THE HANDMAIDEN.
Indemnification
Visitor agrees to indemnify and hold the Organization harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs, made by any third party due to or arising out of Visitor's use of the Service, the violation of this Agreement, or infringement by Visitor, or other user of the Service using Visitor's computer, of any intellectual property or any other right of any person or entity.

The Handmaiden retains and reserves all rights not expressly granted herein.
Visitor may download or print one (1) copy of any of the Website' Content for personal, non-commercial use, which must retain all copyright, disclaimers, and other notices contained therein. Use of the Website' Content for any other purpose other than personal, non-commercial use, unless specifically permitted by an authorized member of The Handmaiden, is a violation of copyright and is subject to prosecution.
Visitor understands and acknowledges that Visitor does not acquire any ownership rights through use of the Website.
Links to, and appropriately credited quotes of up to 200 words from the Website (appropriate credit includes author, article title, article date, article website address, and date retrieved), are permitted. Any use of materials on the Website other than the preceding, including, but not limited to reproduction, exploitation, modification, distribution, republication, decompilation, or replication, framing, mirroring, disassembling, or posting (including, but not limited to, online bulletin boards, online networks, blogs, message boards, newsgroups, and chat rooms), any form of data extraction or data mining, or other commercial exploitation of any kind, without prior written permission of an authorized officer of the Organization is strictly prohibited and is subject to prosecution. In addition, such use of trademarks, servicemarks, logos, or links to the websites of third parties is not intended to imply, directly or indirectly, that those third parties endorse or have any affiliation with the Organization.

Visitor understands that information on the Website is based on sources we and/or our affiliates or Editors believe to be reliable, but its accuracy and/or completeness is not guaranteed.
Visitor understands that information and data on the Website may not be applicable, up-to-date, or accurate. In particular, Visitor understands that any price information on the Website is not intended to be up-to-date, and should not be used or relied upon as accurate.
Editor Account
Visitors to our Website may in the future be able to register to contribute content as ("Editors"). Editors shall receive a username and password which they will use to submit content to the Website ("Access Information"). EDITOR is responsible for keeping their Access Information secure. Editors are entirely responsible for any and all activities which occur under their Access Information whether authorized or not authorized. EDITOR agrees to immediately notify The Handmaiden of any unauthorized use of EDITOR’s account or any other breach of security known or should be known to the EDITOR. EDITOR’s right to use the Service is personal to the EDITOR. EDITOR agrees not to resell or make any commercial use of the Service without the express written consent of the Organization. EDITOR, NOT THE ORGANIZATION, IS FULLY AND COMPLETELY LIABLE FOR ANY LOSSES AND/OR DAMAGE OF ANY AND ALL KINDS DUE TO UNAUTHORIZIED USE OF EDITOR ACCESS INFORMATION.
The Handmaiden reserves the right to terminate EDITOR access, and/or to delete, remove, or otherwise disable EDITOR Access Information and EDITOR Content for any reason and at its sole discretion.
Editors agree that The Handmaiden has the right to include EDITOR Content in feeds to news aggregator and other republication similar services, at its sole discretion, and that any revenue generated by these services is the sole property of The Handmaiden.
Editors further agree to comply with EDITOR guidelines.
For the purposes of this Agreement, Editors shall also be considered Visitors.
Visitor Conduct
Visitor agrees not to engage in any of the following as a condition of their use of the Website: interfere with another's use of the Website via any means or method, including, but not limited to "hacking," the use of Trojans, the use of viruses, etc.; deface the Website or their Content; compromise the security of the Website; collect or "harvest" information about other Visitors without their express permission and consent by any means or method, including, but not limited to, cookies or "phishing"; or suggest or imply that any opinion, statement, product, or service is endorsed or approved by The Handmaiden without The Handmaiden's express prior written consent. Visitor agrees to respect and abide by the Website' copyright to the Content, as described in Section 6 of this Agreement. Visitor agrees to not use the Website and/or their Services or Content for any illegal or unlawful purpose or in any illegal or unlawful manner.
Modifications and Interruption to Service
The Handmaiden reserves the right to modify or discontinue the Service with or without notice to the Visitor. The Handmaiden shall not be liable to Visitor or any third party should The Handmaiden exercise its right to modify or discontinue the Service. Visitor acknowledges and accepts that The Handmaiden does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted or secure access to our Website and operation of our Website may be interfered with or adversely affected by numerous factors or circumstances outside of our control.

Our Website may include links to other sites on the Internet that are owned and operated by online merchants and other third parties; we neither control nor endorse these websites or the services, products, features, links, or advertising they offer. Governing Jurisdiction of the Courts: State of California
Our website is operated and provided in the State of California. As such, we are subject to the laws of the State of California, and such laws will govern this Terms of Use, without giving effect to any choice of law rules. We make no representation that our Website or other services are appropriate, legal or available for use in other locations. Accordingly, if you choose to access our site you agree to do so subject to the internal laws of the State of California.
Compliance with Laws
Visitor assumes all knowledge of applicable laws and is responsible for compliance with any such laws. Visitor may not use the Services or Website in any way that violates applicable state, federal, or international laws, regulations or other government requirements. Visitor further agrees not to transmit any material that encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
Botnets
The Handmaiden retains the right, at our sole discretion, to terminate any accounts involved with botnets and related activities. If any hostnames are used as command and control points for botnets, The Handmaiden reserves the right to direct the involved hostnames to a honeypot, loopback address, logging facility, or any other destination at our discretion.
Other Terms
If any provision of this Terms of Use Agreement shall be unlawful, void or unenforceable for any reason, the other provisions (and any partially-enforceable provision) shall not be affected thereby and shall remain valid and enforceable to the maximum possible extent. You agree that this Terms of Use Agreement and any other agreements referenced herein may be assigned by The Handmaiden, in our sole discretion, to a third party in the event of a merger or acquisition. This Terms of Use Agreement shall apply in addition to, and shall not be superseded by, any other written agreement between us in relation to your participation as a Visitor. Visitor agrees that by accepting this Terms of Use Agreement, Visitor is consenting to the use and disclosure of their personally identifiable information and other practices described in our Privacy Policy Statement (if applicable).
Notification of Claimed Copyright Infringement
Pursuant to Section 512(c) of the Copyright Revision Act, as enacted through the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, The Handmaiden designates the following individual as its agent for receipt of notifications of claimed copyright infringement: Mary Puplava, webmaster.
