“Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice?”
Personal note: Of course, I answered each of these questions with “No, no way, absolutely not, and never!” Who could there be higher that our God, Who is Wisdom, Who is Goodness, Who is Righteous, and Who is the Eternal Judge? Remember how your parent would ask you a question in such a way that the answer was in the question? (You don’t really want that 4th cookie, do you?) That’s what these questions do. I almost think of it like “I dare you to prove Me wrong about what I’m asking!”
Spirit of Truth, cause us to be hungry for more of Your revelation. Help us to discern Your wisdom as we read the Bible. Bring revelation and understanding to our study of Your Word. (Prv 2:6)
Your Word says if we lack wisdom on any matter, if we ask, You are generous in Your response. Develop an easy dialog between us. Tweak our hearts to ask You first before making decisions. (James 1:5)
We give thanks to You, Lord, for You are good and Your love endures forever. (Ps 107:1) May Your goodness be seen across our nation and our world. Cause our eyes to be open to see Your majestic beauty in what You have created for us to enjoy.
There is a Divine spark in each of Your children. In this present age of turmoil especially in human interaction, help us to recognize Your goodness in others and build on that.
More than ever we ask for humility in our thoughts, speech, and actions. Expose our self-righteousness. Convict us when we step out of line in condemning others in their thoughts, speech and actions.
We ask for grace, grace, and more grace. Transform us to know Your perfect, good will for our lives. (Romans 12:2)
Your Word tells us not to judge or condemn for we will be judged by You. Help us to forgive those who have harmed us especially in our souls. Heal our wounds as we forgive them from our hearts. (Luke 6:37)
Keep us from empty, idle words. Give us a “check” before we utter any unkind or judgmental word. We acknowledge we will be judged on every word. (Matt 12:36)
Although we will one day stand before You for judgment, we affirm that You sent Your Son into our lives to save us. (John 3:16,17) We long to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant” as we enter into eternal glory. (Matt 25:21)
“Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?”
Personal note: Whoa! Didn’t that Scripture just grip you? I immediately thought of yesterday’s reference to Job 38. There are certain times when we just have to say, “You’re God and I’m not!” In these uncertain times when our earthly perspective isn’t enough, I need wisdom from above. I may have the information, but do I have the best answer? It’s at this point, when I lay my needs at His feet and await His response, that I truly surrender to Wisdom. This awesome privilege becomes my peace, my comfort, and yes, my faith and trust in Him and His direction. (I posted lecture notes yesterday about Heavenly Wisdom. You might enjoy them.)
There is no one like You. You created the heavens and the earth by and through Your wisdom. Thank You for such a beautiful world to enjoy.
From the beginning of time, Your eternal wisdom has drawn us to You. You are always calling us closer. Speak loud and clear so we don’t miss You and the opportunities You present to us in our every day lives.
Your wisdom is supreme. We ask that You pour out Your wisdom upon our governmental leaders and representatives, on our pastors and teachers, on our educators, and on all people of influence. Whether they ask for it or not, WE ask for them!
Take the masks off fools and false teachers. Expose the enemy’s lies and deceit. Uncover the enemy’s tactics. Help us to be aware and be pro-active.
Destroy selfish pride and know-it-all attitudes. Shut the roaring mouths of those who advise or teach anything contrary to Heaven’s principles. Expose the doctrines of demons. Uncover their strategies.
Remind us that we do not pray against people, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Eph 6) Enlighten us. Guide our prayers. Cause us to receive revelation in Your Word.
By Your Spirit activated in us, we put on the armor of God daily. Prepare us for battle. Show us Your battle plans and give us courage to fight the good fight. Give us the words to share the Good News with others. (1 Tim 6:12)
Thank You Holy Spirit that You are Comforter, Teacher, Spirit of Truth, Spirit of Love, Reconciler… and best of all, You draw us to Jesus. (John 16:13, Rom 8:16)
Help us daily to yield our minds and hearts to You. Encourage us to release Your living rivers for ourselves and others. Embolden us with Your fire.
“Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?
Personal note: Boy, oh, boy–doesn’t this verse convict us? As I read this, I immediately thought of the Lord’s challenge to Job in Job 38 WOW! In my mind’s eye I can just see Job looking up at the whirlwind, shaking at the thundering voice questioning him. Awesome, jaw-dropping revelation pours out as the Lord reveals His might, power, and wisdom. HE is the Creator of all things. All creation is by His design. And then I bow my head in wonderment and thanksgiving that HE knows me. How can it be? How awesome is a Creator that knows everything about me down to the number of hairs on my body.
You are great and glorious, Lord God Almighty. Receive our praise and thanksgiving for all You have given us to enjoy in this world–the oceans, the mountains, the rivers, the valleys and hills. The beauty we see reflects Your beauty. Convict us to care as much for our environment as You do.
Your oceans are vast. When we stand on the shores, it looks like it goes on forever. WE can’t see the ocean’s end, but You do. You set their boundaries. Help us to understand Your limitless power as well as to understand what power You have given us who believe. Holy Spirit, inspire us in new ways to express You to our world.
Awaken our spiritual eyes to see the storms on the horizon before they gather strength. We declare that Your hand which has held the oceans, will hold back the onslaught of the enemy’s attacks on our lives, on Your church, and on our nation. Speak to the riotous waves that seek to drown us and tell them to be still.
Open our eyes to the unseen realm just as You did to Elisha’s servant. (2 Kings 6:17) Show us how to participate in heaven’s warfare for our families and beyond.
May Your hand that has held the oceans be upon us as we share Your Good News with others. (Acts 11:21)
Take us to new heights, Lord. Call us to a Mt. Sinai experience. We are willing to be “weighed in the balance” of Your righteous judgment. Cleanse our hearts, heal our wounds, remove the stains on our garments. We realize that only those with clean hands and hearts have a right to shout from the mountaintops. (Psalm 24)
Today, Lord, we appeal to Your rule over all the earth and the 7 Mountains of Influence. Let the redeemed say so. Give voice to Your prophets in Your Church. Raise up the Patrick Henry’s in our government to speak with clarity and power. Call families to prayer. (7 Mountains Prayer Guide)
We want to know You, to serve You, and to share You. Increase in us that You may increase in our spheres of influence.
“He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.”
Personal note: Many years ago as my daughter-in-laws began to bear children, this verse really spoke to me. I claimed it as a promise for them and for my grandchildren. Psalm 23 begins with “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want.” There is no statement more true in the Word than this. This prayer affirms our confidence in His loving care for our every need.
Your Word is heavenly manna to us. Thank You for feeding us with Your truth, Your promises, Your encouragement, and Your wisdom. (John 6:22-39)
You are the Good Shepherd. Protect us from outside attacks, help us to beware of traps, alert us to danger, and point us in the right direction. (Psalm 27:11)
Cause our ears to hear Your call and respond the first time. Quicken our spirits to pick up on Your nuances. Whether You shout or gently whisper, open our listening hearts to Your words. (1 Kings 19:12)
As we lean in to You, help us to love You more. Let us hear Your heartbeat for our families, our friends, and our neighbors. Use our hands and feet as well as our words to encourage, to share wisdom, and point them to You. (Mark 12:33)
For those prodigals, we appeal to Your heart. Use these uncertain times to help them find certainty in You. Jesus, Your parable told us of Your great heart for the lost and Your willingness to leave the ninety-nine for the one. Today we lift up the “one” in our own lives. (Matthew 18:12)
Out of the mouths of babes You have ordained praise. You caution us to not hurt them or hold them back from You. Give us great grace and knowledge to raise them in the knowledge of God. (Luke 18:16)
Children are indeed our heritage and reward from You. Give us wisdom for every special need they have. (Psalm 127:3)
We ask for heavenly assistance for the mothers of the world. Send Your angels to protect and minister to them. Holy Spirit, be their Comforter/Advisor/Teacher. Father, we ask that You cause each one to fulfill Your destiny and purpose in their lives. (Psalm 91:11)
Strengthen marriages. Reduce stress. Bring financial blessing. Cause husbands and wives to obey You in all things that it may be well with their children. (Numbers 6:22-26)
“Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.”
Personal note: In today’s world climate, those who are mature in the Lord are seeing the signs of the end of the age. While we watch the turmoil on the earth, we also sense the battle in the heavenlies. In the first 9 verses, the Lord is telling Isaiah to hear His words of promise and speak them to His people. It is an urgent call to awaken, to see, to hear, and to shout that this life is temporary, but be comforted with what is to come. Our Lord is sovereign. He is all-powerful. He has a plan. He will win. We know the end of the Book. Help us, Lord, to see Your chapter headings!
Open our spiritual eyes to understand the signs of our times. Give us wisdom and revelation to know what to do and what to say. Help us to count our days and make each day count.
You, Who created this earth and every man and woman and child, have established our times and seasons. We call on the Divine timer You’ve placed in each of us. Ring the alarm bell. Awaken Your people and those You have registered in Your Book of Life. Now is the time to join Your army.
Receive our praise and thanksgiving for Your awesome power and might. When we have no strength, You are our strength. When our hearts are weak, You speak fire into our spirits.
Impart an urgency into us and those who have the platform to influence many. Increase Your call to intimacy for pastors, ministers, and spiritual leaders of all kinds. Give them Your anointing to lead us and help us adjust our focus from our circumstances to You.
Establish Your rule in our hearts. Cause us to let go of any ounce of rebellion. Encourage our surrender to Your orders. Help us to hear and obey You.
Stir our hearts to pray in the Spirit. Activate a militancy in our faith that we might line up behind Your command.
You have given us all authority. In Your name, Jesus, we say, “Chains of iniquity, be broken. Demonic influence, cease. Sickness, Disease, Cancer, be healed. Virus, be gone. Rebellion, be squashed, all demonic spirits of jealousy, lying, manipulation, control, twisting, and the like, go to the pit of hell. Breakthrough, come!”
Release Your angel armies under Your command to war in the heavenlies and minister on this earth.
Holy Spirit, draw all mankind to You and the Good News of Jesus. Now more than every unmask doctrines of demons and deception that has creeped into Your church.
Give Your servants and handmaidens affirmations, confirmations, encounters, and every kind of encouragement, today while there is time. Give us a peak, an inclination of what awaits us “on that day”. We don’t seek the rewards as much as The Rewarder. Help us to diligently seek You daily.
