Isaiah 40:28

Isaiah DeclarationsFriday, August 28, 2020

“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.”

Personal note: I can just see the shake of His head and the hear the sadness in His voice as the Lord once again asks if anything He’s done for us has registered in our hearts. The earth, the oceans, the mountains, the stars, and best of all, each and every one of His beautiful children were created in His wisdom and through and for His glory. He is beyond measuring, and yet His greatest desire is an intimate relationship with each one of us. Of all He’s created, His most marvelous treasure is found in us and our capability to love Him back.

  • We marvel at Your brilliance, Lord. You’ve known each and every one of us since the foundation of the world. Before You flung the universe and named the stars, You saw our faces and You knew our names. How magnificent You are!
  • Open our ears to hear Your voice. Open our eyes to see You in our world and in each other. Open our minds to calculate, compute, reason and understand, but most especially open our hearts to receive Your love and give it back to You.
  • Our lives have limited days, but Yours are forever. Help us extract the most from You each day. Give us wisdom to number our days. (Ps 90:12) Thank You, Jesus, that You never age or change. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Heb 13:8)
  • We are weak and weary at times, Lord. Stresses of life, responsibilities, unforeseen events weaken our resolve and drain our resilience. You are never weak or weary. Call us to rest in You. Revive us when we find You. Remind us, yet once again, of Your love.
  • Today, we ask for Your intervention with souls dear to us who still refuse to acknowledge You and Your lordship in their lives. We know You’ve spoken to them time and time again, but Lord, we appeal to You once more. Save their souls. Draw them to Truth and Salvation.
  • During these days of disruption, division, disunity, and destruction, we ask for Your intervention in our cities and nation. Awaken the sleeping church to appeal to heaven in prayer. Raise up godly men and women into positions of authority in local, state, and national government positions. Protect our nation from the evil one and his influence. Reestablish Yourself in this nation: One Nation Under God!

“He judges the great people of the world and brings them all to nothing.”

Personal note: “The great people” in other versions is translated as princes with the Hebrew word, razan, meaning weighty, judicious, or commanding. My thoughts immediately went Daniel 2:21 where it says he removes kings and sets up kings and gives wisdom and understanding as He chooses. How many times in the Word have we seen this very thing? Saul/David, Adonijah/Solomon, Ahab/Jorem, Babylon’s King/Cyrus, to name but a few. I am reminded as we are in the midst of this Covid-19 pandemic that those who “rule” over us set the rules and regulations that govern our lives and families. I would bet that many in charge–whether local, state, regional or national–have no clue that they will be judged on how they have cared for us during this time. I am also reminded of Paul’s letter to Timothy with its exhortation to pray for kings and all those in authority. (1 Tim 2:2)

  • Lord, it is our greatest wish to live tranquil and peaceful lives with all godliness as Paul advised Timothy. Help our hearts to look past their failures and pray for our leaders’ successes. For our sakes, give them wisdom and heavenly strategy.
  • We ask for Your wisdom and authority over our educational system particularly. Spur these educators into excellence, especially in communication. Mothers and fathers have been whipped-sawed over how to help their children in this confusing, scary, overwhelming time. Pour out an even greater anointing upon these parents to raise their children in this environment. Provide the necessary tools whether back to class, home-schooling, video-training, pod classes, or tutors. Guide their teachers and administrators. Defeat their own fears with faith. Let those who know You shine with brightness. Give them Your perfect solutions to help parents and children.
  • We stand against the father of lies and the author of confusion, “the forever loser” as Pastor Tim Sheets calls him. He was defeated at Calvary. Jesus now has the keys and He’s given the key ring to us, His church on earth. Ignite our hearts with Your prayers, Holy Spirit, as we operate with the authority You’ve given us. Help us to pray alongside You for righteousness, freedom, courage, strength, vision, and prosperity of our souls as well as our spirits and bodies.
  • Help us especially to watch our mouths in the days ahead. It is so easy to have opinions on how things should be done. Give us a nudge when we’re about to go too far. Let no word curses be heard from our mouths. (Psalm 59:12) This is especially true in the election season we are in, with the unrest in our cities, with false narratives being published, and with two sides to every decision of our lives: work, school, church, finances, leisure. Every area of our society has been affected and infected. Help us to remain humble and pure of heart that our prayers would be heard AND answered. You show Your favor to the humble. (James 4:6)

Isaiah 40:12

“Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?

Personal note: Boy, oh, boy–doesn’t this verse convict us? As I read this, I immediately thought of the Lord’s challenge to Job in Job 38 WOW! In my mind’s eye I can just see Job looking up at the whirlwind, shaking at the thundering voice questioning him. Awesome, jaw-dropping revelation pours out as the Lord reveals His might, power, and wisdom. HE is the Creator of all things. All creation is by His design. And then I bow my head in wonderment and thanksgiving that HE knows me. How can it be? How awesome is a Creator that knows everything about me down to the number of hairs on my body.

  • You are great and glorious, Lord God Almighty. Receive our praise and thanksgiving for all You have given us to enjoy in this world–the oceans, the mountains, the rivers, the valleys and hills. The beauty we see reflects Your beauty. Convict us to care as much for our environment as You do.
  • Your oceans are vast. When we stand on the shores, it looks like it goes on forever. WE can’t see the ocean’s end, but You do. You set their boundaries. Help us to understand Your limitless power as well as to understand what power You have given us who believe. Holy Spirit, inspire us in new ways to express You to our world.
  • Awaken our spiritual eyes to see the storms on the horizon before they gather strength. We declare that Your hand which has held the oceans, will hold back the onslaught of the enemy’s attacks on our lives, on Your church, and on our nation. Speak to the riotous waves that seek to drown us and tell them to be still.
  • Open our eyes to the unseen realm just as You did to Elisha’s servant. (2 Kings 6:17) Show us how to participate in heaven’s warfare for our families and beyond.
  • May Your hand that has held the oceans be upon us as we share Your Good News with others. (Acts 11:21)
  • Take us to new heights, Lord. Call us to a Mt. Sinai experience. We are willing to be “weighed in the balance” of Your righteous judgment. Cleanse our hearts, heal our wounds, remove the stains on our garments. We realize that only those with clean hands and hearts have a right to shout from the mountaintops. (Psalm 24)
  • Today, Lord, we appeal to Your rule over all the earth and the 7 Mountains of Influence. Let the redeemed say so. Give voice to Your prophets in Your Church. Raise up the Patrick Henry’s in our government to speak with clarity and power. Call families to prayer. (7 Mountains Prayer Guide)
  • We want to know You, to serve You, and to share You. Increase in us that You may increase in our spheres of influence.

Prayer is Music to God’s Ears

This summer I chose to read The Passion Translation. It is a delightful and yet profound way to read the New Testament. I was in Matthew 18 and was arrested with these verses: 19 “Again, I give you an eternal truth: If two of you agree to ask God for something in a symphony of prayer, my heavenly Father will do it for you. 20 For whenever two or three come together in honor of my name, I am right there with them!” [Emphasis added]

I sat back and immediately thought, “My prayer is music to God’s ears!” Just imagine what it’s like to Him when two or more of us pray together? It becomes a symphony! I was astounded with that concept. How in the world can two voices become a symphony? And then Deuteronomy 32:30 came to mind: “How could one person chase a thousand of them, and two people put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?” And of course, there’s the multiplication of the 5 loaves and 2 fishes (Mt 14:19).

The “power of multiplication” is the word, AGREE. It’s the Greek word, sumphóneó, (Strongs #4856) and it means to call out with, to be in harmony, generally to agree.

4856 symphōnéō (from 4862 /sýn, “together with” and 5456 /phōnḗ, “sound, voice,” which is the root of the English word, “symphony“) – properly, voicing the same opinion because like-minded. [“4856 (symphōnéō) was originally, a harmony of voices, figuratively, to harmonize with in the sense of to agree with” (Souter), i.e. to be in harmony, agreeing, because in one concord (A-S, so also in Plato, Aristotle).]

And when we add Jesus into the mix by asking in His name, it’s no longer 2 to the power of 2 — it now becomes 2 to the power of eternity! Just imagine my excitement when this song came on my ipod while dressing: Sing Along by Christy Nockels. I imagined singing my prayer to Father and listening to hear His song back to me. Find someone to pray a new song to the Lord. Agree — harmonize — and become a symphony of prayer.

Great God. Wrap your arms around this world tonight, Around the world tonight, And when you hear our cries, Sing through the night, So we can join in your song, And sing along yeah, We’ll sing along Sing along by Christy Nockels

Prayer in Motion

I woke up today with a song:

Pray when you’re sitting.
Pray when you’re standing.
Pray when you wash dishes.
Pray when you sit on a swing.

Wherever you are, doing anything.
Prayer is the key–just the thing.
