Relax Your Hips and Sway With the Music
This morning as I woke up, I heard this over and over: “Relax your hips. Sway with the music.”
How I chuckled. Yesterday it was “Shoulders down, Mary.” and now this! Okay, okay! I worked out with my trainer yesterday and watched Dancing With the Stars last night. Perhaps there’s a tie-in here? But when I grabbed my bible this morning, all I could think about was Ephesians and Watchman Nee’s little book, Sit, Walk, Stand.
Sit, Walk, Stand is an inspiring look at Ephesians, opening our eyes to the central issues of our faith. It describes the process of Christian living and maturity in these 3 action words. These three key words clearly show us the way to victory in this life—and for eternity. Sit—Our position in Christ. Walk—Our life in the world. Stand—Our attitude toward the enemy.
All three of these actions focus on the stability of our hips. If we are stiff or out of balance, everything we do can shift or exacerbate soreness. Equal balance of both sides of the body to our core is essential. One of the scriptures that kept swirling around in my head was the Lord’s response to Jeremiah in his frustration that the wicked still prospered. Jeremiah 12:5
“If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you,
Then how can you contend with horses?
And if in the land of peace,
In which you trusted, they wearied you,
Then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?”
Sway With the Music
This word, sway, is defined in several ways:
1) to move or swing to and fro, as something fixed at one end or resting on a support.
2) to move or incline to one side or in a particular direction.
3) to incline in opinion, sympathy, tendency.
4) to fluctuate or vacillate, as in opinion.
5) to wield power; exercise rule.
WOW! #5 really got me… that’s the number of GRACE! To me, there is nothing more powerful to mood than music, especially worship and praise music. It lifts me up, adjusts my thinking, and permeates every cell in my body to put me in sync with Heaven’s sound and song.
So, What is The Lord Saying Today?
Get in balance with Me. Align yourself correctly. Relax into My keeping, My strength, and My lovingkindness towards you. Loosen your cares and sway with My song today. Hear Me. Hear My music and let’s dance!
