36 Years and Still in Love

anniversaryTomorrow is my 36th anniversary. How the years have passed by! We’ve been through so much together…like so many marriages that have lasted. As the new year had begun, we began to consider a move out of state. The thought greatly troubled me on so many levels. My heart just wasn’t in it, but I wanted to be amenable if this was the Lord’s plan. After showering and while drying my hair, I began to thank the Lord for being at the center of our lives and marriage. All of a sudden several scriptures ran through my mind–like one right after the other. It was almost what I could describe as a download from Holy Spirit. As soon as I could, I grabbed my bible and journal to write them out.

Together Always in the Good and the Bad (Ruth 1:16,17)

… for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the Lord do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me.”

Be strong and courageous. Cross the Jordan (Joshua 1:3-9)

“cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. 3 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory. 5 No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. 8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

One Flesh (Genesis 2:24,25)

“For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”

You are Our Bread of Life (John 6:67-29 & v 56)

“Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you? 68 Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. 69 And we have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.”

“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him,”

double_rainbowMy Double Rainbow (Genesis 9:14-16)

Yesterday was rainy, but when the clouds had begun to clear, I spotted a double rainbow above the Christmas Light Cross I have mounted outside on our second floor. After the scriptures, this picture came to mind and then I remembered the promise in Genesis.

“And it shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud, 15 and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature that is on the earth.”

I really believe the Lord was just affirming me, our marriage, our covenant with each other and with Him. What an amazing experience!
