Proverbs 1: Forward Progress
Last night I was really touched by two verses in Proverbs 1:
v 23 “Turn to my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.” and v 33 “But he who listens to me shall live securely, And shall be at ease from the dread of evil.”
Both of these words are exhortations as well as promises. Verse 23 reminds me of The Handmaiden’s promise of Acts 2:18, but there’s a caveat. I have to first LISTEN to His voice, turn towards Him, and hear the correction and obey. Then the last verse 33 becomes the fulfillment of the promise — PEACE– no fear, no stress or anxiety.
I think the “nut” of these verses is to recognize I have a destiny… a purpose. I’m always under His gaze, His smile, and His encouragement. BUT, I can’t just stay there warm and cozy. It’s time to step out into this world and shine.
My last two thoughts…. It’s time to make forward progress.
“The turtle sticks his neck out.
“The snail has to get his feet wet.”
