Isaiah 40:25

Isaiah DeclarationsTuesday, August 25, 2020

“To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One.

Personal note: The key in this verse to me is actually the name of God: Holy One. It’s the Hebrew word, qadosh, meaning sacred, holy. Of the 118 times it’s used in the OT, 50 times it’s translated “holy” and 44 times it’s translated “holy one” where God Himself or others describe Him. I immediately thought of Isaiah 6 where Isaiah had a vision of God on His throne with the seraphim above the throne crying out, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts; all the earth is full of His glory.” Wow. These angels had 6 wings, but note, 2 covered their faces and 2 covered their feet. Can you imagine if we saw the Lord in all His holy glory? I shake my head to think of it as I’m sure I would be flat on my face! And really, isn’t that the point?

  • Who are we that You should look upon us and care for us, and yet, You do, Lord. Our hearts are so grateful. We magnify Your Holy name with our own declaration of holy, holy, holy.
  • Forgive us, Lord. Forgive our nation. Forgive our leaders, both religious and secular for failing to recognize You as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. We stand in the gap and ask You to heal our land.
  • Awaken our eyes. Help us to see why it is so dark today in our cities, in our schools and in our homes. Grant us discernment so that our prayers are targeted. Partner with us, Holy Spirit, as we pray in our prayer language.
  • For all those who have had failed relationships, poor parenting, abuse, and ill-treatment from any source, we ask YOU to be their Source! May Your love bring comfort, guidance, healing, and provision as their Holy One.
  • We continue to stand against the darkness, the evil doctrines, the false narratives of this present world. Be high and lifted up, Lord. Show us Your glory. May Your goodness and mercy be seen and honored. (Exodus 33)
  • There is none like You! (Song)

Isaiah 40:22

Isaiah 40

“God sits above the circle of the earth. The people below seem like grasshoppers to him! He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them.”

Personal note: I really spent some time on this verse. Prior verses have pointed to His creation and that no one or thing compares to Him and what/who He has created. But this verse brings to mind two things: 1) From a natural perspective, we probably do look like grasshoppers. 2) The curtain speaks to me of a barrier, a veil, something He can “hide” behind and His tent speaks to me of His tabernacle, His dwelling place. BUT! I also marvel like David that He has crowned us with glory and honor (Ps 8:4,), He knows my name (Ps 91:14), AND He removes the veil when we turn to Him (2 Cor 3:16).

  • We enthrone You on our praise today, Lord. There is no one on earth or in heaven like You. Great is Your name. You are worthy of all our praise.
  • Look down upon our beautiful world today with its blue oceans, high peaks, deserts, and green valleys. Outstretch Your mighty arm towards those fires in California and beyond. Guide the fire fighters, protect them and the land and property, and extinguish these destructive fires. Save lives!
  • Guide those in Iowa and surrounding areas that are trying to pull the pieces together after that derecho hit them. Reestablish power quickly to those areas that lack. Provide for the families and businesses that have to be rebuilt.
  • May Your gaze be upon our cities that have erupted in riots and anarchy. We call upon Your justice and mercy, for You are both. Condemn the lawlessness, convict the slow-to-act, give strength, wisdom and leadership to those who have Your rule in their hearts. Give them a platform to speak reason and rationality into the chaos.
  • Lord, remove the veil on our hearts first and then remove the veil on Your heavens. Holy Spirit, guide us into all truth.
  • We recognize that You have all authority and that you have delegated authority here on earth to Your Church, help us to walk with grace, with love, and with wisdom.

Isaiah 40:15

Isaiah DeclarationsSaturday, August 15, 2010

“No, for all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. He picks up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand.”

Personal note: I read that verse twice and read it again. Remember being a kid, laying on the ground and looking up at the stars on a clear night–especially the nights you could actually see the Milky Way? Have you ever seen the images from the Hubble Telescope or visited the NASA website? Awesomely amazing. Seeing these wonders, who could ever deny that there is a God and He is without equal? Not a hundred or even million brilliant minds could create His glorious design of the universe we live in.

  • All praise and glory and honor to the One Who flung the stars and tells the sun when to rise and set! (Jer 31:35)
  • Great is the Almighty Who gathers people into nations, each with its own spark of divine nature. We lift up Your people, Israel, and Your city, Jerusalem today. Thank You for a favorable agreement with UAE. May Your peace rest upon them. (Luke 13:34, Psalm 122:6) May Your Son, Jesus, be revealed to them. Their Messiah HAS come! Use this as a new door of hope for all those of the Muslim faith.
  • May Your love for all peoples, for their nations, and for the world-at-large be experienced in new and fresh ways. Help them to experience Your love as You are not willing that any should perish. (2 Peter 3:9)
  • Father God, Judge of all the living and the dead, You sit upon Your throne of wisdom. All Your judgments are righteous and true. Reveal to us our part to bring heaven’s rule to our earth. Encourage us and ignite our spirits with fire. Help us to stand tall and strong in Your name. Give us a voice like Yours as Your representatives.
  • We lift up every governmental structure and say, you will bow to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The kingdoms of our world will become the Kingdom of our Lord. (Rev 11:15) It will be better for you if you bow today instead of on that day.
  • With our prayers and by the power of the Precious Blood of Jesus, we enter the battle to establish Your rule upon the earth. Grant us humility to recognize Your authority, an audience as we seek Your face, and time to cleanse ourselves and repent of any unrighteousness so that the cry of our heart for our nation will be heard. (2 Chr 7:14)

Isaiah 40:13

“Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?”

Personal note: Whoa! Didn’t that Scripture just grip you? I immediately thought of yesterday’s reference to Job 38. There are certain times when we just have to say, “You’re God and I’m not!” In these uncertain times when our earthly perspective isn’t enough, I need wisdom from above. I may have the information, but do I have the best answer? It’s at this point, when I lay my needs at His feet and await His response, that I truly surrender to Wisdom. This awesome privilege becomes my peace, my comfort, and yes, my faith and trust in Him and His direction. (I posted lecture notes yesterday about Heavenly Wisdom. You might enjoy them.)

  • There is no one like You. You created the heavens and the earth by and through Your wisdom. Thank You for such a beautiful world to enjoy.
  • From the beginning of time, Your eternal wisdom has drawn us to You. You are always calling us closer. Speak loud and clear so we don’t miss You and the opportunities You present to us in our every day lives.
  • Your wisdom is supreme. We ask that You pour out Your wisdom upon our governmental leaders and representatives, on our pastors and teachers, on our educators, and on all people of influence. Whether they ask for it or not, WE ask for them!
  • Take the masks off fools and false teachers. Expose the enemy’s lies and deceit. Uncover the enemy’s tactics. Help us to be aware and be pro-active.
  • Destroy selfish pride and know-it-all attitudes. Shut the roaring mouths of those who advise or teach anything contrary to Heaven’s principles. Expose the doctrines of demons. Uncover their strategies.
  • Remind us that we do not pray against people, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Eph 6) Enlighten us. Guide our prayers. Cause us to receive revelation in Your Word.
  • By Your Spirit activated in us, we put on the armor of God daily. Prepare us for battle. Show us Your battle plans and give us courage to fight the good fight. Give us the words to share the Good News with others. (1 Tim 6:12)
  • Thank You Holy Spirit that You are Comforter, Teacher, Spirit of Truth, Spirit of Love, Reconciler… and best of all, You draw us to Jesus. (John 16:13, Rom 8:16)
  • Help us daily to yield our minds and hearts to You. Encourage us to release Your living rivers for ourselves and others. Embolden us with Your fire.
