Isaiah 40:25

Isaiah DeclarationsTuesday, August 25, 2020

“To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One.

Personal note: The key in this verse to me is actually the name of God: Holy One. It’s the Hebrew word, qadosh, meaning sacred, holy. Of the 118 times it’s used in the OT, 50 times it’s translated “holy” and 44 times it’s translated “holy one” where God Himself or others describe Him. I immediately thought of Isaiah 6 where Isaiah had a vision of God on His throne with the seraphim above the throne crying out, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts; all the earth is full of His glory.” Wow. These angels had 6 wings, but note, 2 covered their faces and 2 covered their feet. Can you imagine if we saw the Lord in all His holy glory? I shake my head to think of it as I’m sure I would be flat on my face! And really, isn’t that the point?

  • Who are we that You should look upon us and care for us, and yet, You do, Lord. Our hearts are so grateful. We magnify Your Holy name with our own declaration of holy, holy, holy.
  • Forgive us, Lord. Forgive our nation. Forgive our leaders, both religious and secular for failing to recognize You as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. We stand in the gap and ask You to heal our land.
  • Awaken our eyes. Help us to see why it is so dark today in our cities, in our schools and in our homes. Grant us discernment so that our prayers are targeted. Partner with us, Holy Spirit, as we pray in our prayer language.
  • For all those who have had failed relationships, poor parenting, abuse, and ill-treatment from any source, we ask YOU to be their Source! May Your love bring comfort, guidance, healing, and provision as their Holy One.
  • We continue to stand against the darkness, the evil doctrines, the false narratives of this present world. Be high and lifted up, Lord. Show us Your glory. May Your goodness and mercy be seen and honored. (Exodus 33)
  • There is none like You! (Song)

Isaiah 40:14

Isaiah DeclarationsFriday, August 14, 2020

“Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice?”

Personal note: Of course, I answered each of these questions with “No, no way, absolutely not, and never!” Who could there be higher that our God, Who is Wisdom, Who is Goodness, Who is Righteous, and Who is the Eternal Judge? Remember how your parent would ask you a question in such a way that the answer was in the question? (You don’t really want that 4th cookie, do you?) That’s what these questions do. I almost think of it like “I dare you to prove Me wrong about what I’m asking!”

  • Spirit of Truth, cause us to be hungry for more of Your revelation. Help us to discern Your wisdom as we read the Bible. Bring revelation and understanding to our study of Your Word. (Prv 2:6)
  • Your Word says if we lack wisdom on any matter, if we ask, You are generous in Your response. Develop an easy dialog between us. Tweak our hearts to ask You first before making decisions. (James 1:5)
  • We give thanks to You, Lord, for You are good and Your love endures forever. (Ps 107:1) May Your goodness be seen across our nation and our world. Cause our eyes to be open to see Your majestic beauty in what You have created for us to enjoy.
  • There is a Divine spark in each of Your children. In this present age of turmoil especially in human interaction, help us to recognize Your goodness in others and build on that.
  • More than ever we ask for humility in our thoughts, speech, and actions. Expose our self-righteousness. Convict us when we step out of line in condemning others in their thoughts, speech and actions.
  • We ask for grace, grace, and more grace. Transform us to know Your perfect, good will for our lives. (Romans 12:2)
  • Your Word tells us not to judge or condemn for we will be judged by You. Help us to forgive those who have harmed us especially in our souls. Heal our wounds as we forgive them from our hearts. (Luke 6:37)
  • Keep us from empty, idle words. Give us a “check” before we utter any unkind or judgmental word. We acknowledge we will be judged on every word. (Matt 12:36)
  • Although we will one day stand before You for judgment, we affirm that You sent Your Son into our lives to save us. (John 3:16,17) We long to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant” as we enter into eternal glory. (Matt 25:21)

Isaiah 40:13

“Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?”

Personal note: Whoa! Didn’t that Scripture just grip you? I immediately thought of yesterday’s reference to Job 38. There are certain times when we just have to say, “You’re God and I’m not!” In these uncertain times when our earthly perspective isn’t enough, I need wisdom from above. I may have the information, but do I have the best answer? It’s at this point, when I lay my needs at His feet and await His response, that I truly surrender to Wisdom. This awesome privilege becomes my peace, my comfort, and yes, my faith and trust in Him and His direction. (I posted lecture notes yesterday about Heavenly Wisdom. You might enjoy them.)

  • There is no one like You. You created the heavens and the earth by and through Your wisdom. Thank You for such a beautiful world to enjoy.
  • From the beginning of time, Your eternal wisdom has drawn us to You. You are always calling us closer. Speak loud and clear so we don’t miss You and the opportunities You present to us in our every day lives.
  • Your wisdom is supreme. We ask that You pour out Your wisdom upon our governmental leaders and representatives, on our pastors and teachers, on our educators, and on all people of influence. Whether they ask for it or not, WE ask for them!
  • Take the masks off fools and false teachers. Expose the enemy’s lies and deceit. Uncover the enemy’s tactics. Help us to be aware and be pro-active.
  • Destroy selfish pride and know-it-all attitudes. Shut the roaring mouths of those who advise or teach anything contrary to Heaven’s principles. Expose the doctrines of demons. Uncover their strategies.
  • Remind us that we do not pray against people, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Eph 6) Enlighten us. Guide our prayers. Cause us to receive revelation in Your Word.
  • By Your Spirit activated in us, we put on the armor of God daily. Prepare us for battle. Show us Your battle plans and give us courage to fight the good fight. Give us the words to share the Good News with others. (1 Tim 6:12)
  • Thank You Holy Spirit that You are Comforter, Teacher, Spirit of Truth, Spirit of Love, Reconciler… and best of all, You draw us to Jesus. (John 16:13, Rom 8:16)
  • Help us daily to yield our minds and hearts to You. Encourage us to release Your living rivers for ourselves and others. Embolden us with Your fire.

He KNOWS Me!

On the same morning that my prayer was, “I want to be Your manger this Christmas,” I was driving my car to work, half-listening to the worship music, praying for family needs and mine too, when all of a sudden I remembered a dream snippet from three days ago. I had forgotten the dream and didn’t write it down. I’ll try to recount it as best as I can. Read more

YOU Get All the Glory!

complimentsRecently I received a series of compliments and encouragements. They touched me deeply, but I found them hard to hear in a way. There is no way I want to touch HIS glory. About a year ago, I asked a dear friend how she handles compliments on her work for the Lord. Read more
